13 Gypsies is located in the heart of in Jacksonville's Riverside neighborhood. Chef Howard Kirk personally shops almost daily for local produce to bring to his interesting and ever-changing tapas/small plate menu at this chef named Peasant Kitchen. He runs this kitchen with a passion for the simple and elegant food of the old word-passing on his love and passion to young new cooks. The chef’s newly inspired menu reflects a heritage rooted in Spain along the migratory routes of his Gypsy ancestors. The tapas menu is very authentic, interesting, and unusual for its introduction of tastes and flavors we might ordinarily miss without this family's dedication to their cultural food heritage. There are seasonal items which are highlighted in the daily "Chefs Pantry" Not to be missed are his in house cured meats including signature Salametti Nuestra, and Chorizo Campesano- in house cured farm style chorizo. Crema de Quesa-fresh creamed cheese with seasonings, honey flavored hummus, and freshly baked breads are just a few of the many inspired items for you to choose from.
