Southern Roots Filling Station Café has evolved in concept and physical space. The menu and seating has expanded to encompass the space next door but still strives to be a quaint, neighborhood coffee shop and café.
The café offers specialty coffees, herbs and bulk items; vegan & organic sweets, soups, and savories…..all are freshly made. Ingredients are home grown or procured from local organic farms and include Down to Earth, Berry Good Farm, and Trader’s Hill.
Because they buy local produce and cook seasonal food, the menu is ever changing. Customers love the daily offering called the Savory Special and Southern Roots offers a wide variety of breakfasts: bagel sandwiches, chia pudding, and a variety of house-made-daily baked goods. For lunch you will find brown rice bowls, salads on local greens, and sandwiches on multi-grain bread. Everything they make is Vegan and Gluten-Free- something for everyone.
Southern Roots is passionate about coffee. Cuban-based, regionally roasted coffee beverages such as Cortado and Café con Leche as well as more traditional European drinks like Cappuccino and Latte. Coffee roasters including Panther in Miami, Perc from Savannah, and Due South in Greenville, SC supply freshly roasted beans. Dairy and non-dairy milk options are available and home crafted syrups flavors change seasonally.
Mariah is a certified yoga instructor and has also studied at the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine in Ashville, NC. She shares her passion for a healthy lifestyle at many local workshops and gatherings.
