Intuition Ale Works

Intuition Ale Works is the newest microbrewery in Jacksonville.  Craft beer drinkers will find a surprisingly thoughtful selection of beer styles offered to them in a retro warehouse atmosphere. Owner/brewer Ben Davis spent time in California learning vinification and eventually created wines under his own label.  Later, he attended a brewer’s certification program at the Siebel Institute in Chicago and crafted homebrew recipes in his garage.  These educational experiences refined his palate, quickened his intuition, and shaped the high standards that his beers reflect.  The Florida Brewers’ Guild counts him as a member.

Business Manager Cari Sanchez-Potter brings her background in marketing and her Masters degree in Gastronomy from the University of South Australia/Le Cordon Bleu to handle the operations, tap room, and event planning at Intuition Ale Works.  Cari’s personal mission is to help foster a vibrant and collaborative food and drink culture in Northeast Florida.

Some of the current draft offerings in the tap room include their flagship beer People’s Pale Ale, the popular I-10 IPA, the wheat-based Willow Branch Wheat, a delicious Belgian golden ale called Golden Spiral, and King Street Stout, with the highest alcohol content of the line up.  These and a few others are also found at better beer bars around Jax.  They can be taken out with quart or gallon growlers, too.

When visiting Intuition’s website, one is struck by how many community events this brewery sponsors. For example, Thursdays are Women’s Intuition Nights, and $1 for every pint sold is donated to a different charitable organization every month. Intuition is committed to sustainability and is proud to recycle their grains to local farmers for a rich chicken feed.

Tours are at 1pm on Saturdays or by appointment, and the taproom has free wi-fi available to patrons. So, pay this microbrewery a visit soon—you’ll get a good feeling.
