Bold City Brewery

Bold City Brewery, founded in October 2008, is a Jacksonville microbrewery and taproom that is owned and operated by Brian Miller and his mother, Susan.  Brian, the head brewer, started home brewing in 2002 and now, with additional family members sharing the work load, is projected to produce over 6000 barrels in 2011.  Bold City brews are currently distributed to over 200 locations in and around Jacksonville, Fernandina and St. Augustine. Bold City is considered a craft brewery.  Traditional ingredients are used with a local twist.  They are committed to being green, too; a local farm picks up and composts the spent grains and yeast.

There are nine varieties of beer to choose from; a few favorites include Duke’s Cold Nose Brown Ale, Mad Manatee IPA and 1901 Red Ale. Sign up for their e-newsletter to keep up with the special brews Brian occasionally puts out for their taproom guests.  A sampler selection is available there, with the purchase of a pint on your first visit.  So stop in and have a brew!  Their taproom has become a favorite haunt for beer aficionados.

Bold City Brewery has also begun bottling three of their most popular beers—Killer Whale Cream Ale, Lamp Post Ale and Duke’s Cold Nose Brown Ale.  They can be found in some of the area Publix, Winn-Dixie, Total Wine and Spirits, Whole Foods Market, Native Sun and health food stores.  And don’t forget to choose Bold City brew from many area restaurant and cafe menus.
