Arlington Community Garden

A joint project of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Jacksonville and Tree Hill Nature Center has resulted in a local garden for growing food using sustainable methods and for building community through common goals, shared work, and a harvest of fresh, organic vegetables and fruits.  Ten of the largest garden plots are set aside for non-profit organizations and the remaining (nearly 30) are for individuals, families, and for educational purposes.  The cost is $60.00 per year and scholarships are available for those needing assistance. In addition to providing the protected space, raised beds, water, organic soil and compost, there are picnic areas, tools for loan, and educational opportunities -  even for first time gardeners.  Participants are encouraged to share their bounty with local food banks.  Community events will include recipe exchanges and harvest potlucks.
