Snail of Approval: The Present Moment Café

Since 2006, The Present Moment Café has been serving up some of the most innovative and delicious organic, vegetarian raw foods you will find on the First Coast. One glance at the menu and you will know that you are in for a treat for the eye as well as the body.

Using only the finest and freshest organic fruits and vegetables, the chefs here prepare them with care, creativity and artistry. The menu consists of 95% organic ingredients, and they offer organic wines to complement your meal as well.  More than 50% of the produce they use is regionally grown.

How about sampling the Creamy White Truffle Pesto Pasta:  pasta made with fresh zucchini and tossed with pesto and sun- cured tomatoes, finished with pine nut “parmesan”?  Or perhaps trying the Kale Avocado a la Present Moment Salad:  their signature salad of kale massaged with avocado and lemon garlic-oil, topped with red bell pepper, tomato and candied southern pecans?

Owner, Julie Watkins, is passionate about raw, living foods. Chef Craig Hornsby, who has been the creative and inspirational force here for many years, continues to serve innovative dishes from his kitchen.

The café includes a small market, where one can purchase items such as Himalayan pink salt, dried cocoa beans, various nuts, etc.  In addition, this restaurant uses only non-toxic cleaning products, recycled paper and biodegradable to-go containers.
